An ultrasonographic device comprises an ultrasound probe (101) including an oscillator for generating an ultrasonic wave. An ultrasonic wave transmitter/ receiver section (102, 103) is connected to the probe (101) for transmitting and receiving the ultrasonic wave to and from a subject. An elastic frame data calculation section (111) generates elastic frame data based on the ultrasonic wave. A processing section (112) is provided for setting an upper limit value and a lower limit value of a display gradation range so that a characteristic amount of said elastic frame data matches with the centre of the gradation range. An elastic image is generated based on said elastic frame data by correlating the gradation range to said upper and lower limit values.
