PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep excellent controllability in controlling directions of the distal end portion of an insertion portion and excellent operability for oscillating motions in operating to bend a bending portion.
SOLUTION: Out of operating knobs 21UD, 21LR constituting a bending operation means 20, a rotating angle of the operating knob 21UD connected to an external shaft 22 is detected by a rotating angle detecting part 24 comprising an encoder plate 25UD and an optical sensor 26UD. The rotating angle detecting signal is taken in a controller 30 as an input signal, and an ultrasonic motor 14UD is driven. A ratio of bending angle of the bending portion 2b to an operation angle of the operating knob 21UD is set by an input/output ratio setting device 31 and varies in two stages of an input/output ratio by a direction control operating mode and of an input/output ratio by a bending angle amplifying mode.
