The invention relates to a disposable absorbent hygiene item (2) in the form ofa pair of knickers, said item comprising a central absorption part (22), an outerenvelope (21) forming a base structure comprising a waist edge (20) which is closedall the way round in the periperal direction and forms an opening for the waist,a rear part (4) and a front part (6) comprising longitudinal lateral edge sections(16, 18), and a connecting region (10) arranged between the front part (6) andthe rear part (4) and forming the leg openings (8 a, b). The item according to theinvention has a central longitudinal axis (L) extending in a longitudinal directionand a transversal central axis (Q) extending through the centre of the connectingregion (10), said transversal central axis dividing the connecting region intoa front connecting region (10a) and a rear connecting region (10b). Each leg opening(8 a, b) comprises first thread-type or strip-type elasticating means in thefront connecting region (10a) or second thread-type or strip-type elasticatingmeans (2) in the rear connecting region (10b), which are arranged along a firstsection (30) or a second section (32) of each leg opening. The rear connectingregion (10b) comprises an elastic element (E) between the respective longitudinaledge (5) of the central absorption part (22) and each leg opening (8 a, b), saidelastic element (E) being oriented away from a region close to the leg opening,in a direction comprising both a transversal component (QQ) in the directionof the central longitudinal axis and a longitudinal component (LL) in the directionof the rear part (4).
