PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, making not only three-dimensional gathers but also leg gathers function as a leakage preventive wall for preventing leakage of a liquid such as urine by effectively raising the leg gathers formed on both end sides in the transverse direction of an absorber.SOLUTION: An absorbent article includes: a liquid permeable top sheet 10 a liquid impermeable back sheet 20 an absorber 30 interposed between the sheets and a leg gathers expanding and contracting member 40 disposed in the stretched state on both right and left sides of the absorber. The absorber has a recess part 31 narrowed by curving or deflecting both right and left side edges toward the inside of the absorber at a part in the longitudinal direction.
