Disclosed herein are thiadiazole and oxadiazole derivatives of formula (I) wherein the substituents are as defined within the specification, processes for their preparation, intermediates used therein, compositions comprising said compounds and uses thereof. Said compounds are useful in the treatment or prevention of obesity, dyslipidaemia, impaired fasting glucose conditions, metabolic acidosis, ketosis, hepatic steatosis, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and complications arising from this pathology, lipotoxicity, the accumulation and an excess of triacylglycerides in adipose tissue (WAT), metabolic syndrome, coronary diseases, hypertension, skin diseases, Alzheimer's disease, immunomodulatory diseases, infection with HIV, irritable bowel syndrome and certain cancers, and advantageously for the preparation of a medicament for treating or preventing obesity, dyslipidaemia, fasted glucose impairment conditions, metabolic acidosis, ketosis, hepatic steatosis, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and complications arising from this pathology, lipotoxicity, the accumulation and an excess of triacylglycerides in adipose tissue (WAT), and metabolic syndrome.
