Making fibrous, biodegradable plant pot from e.g. cocoa fiber and latex comprises coating, pre-vulcanization, molding and vulcanization, yielding pot with variable wall thickness and porosity
Cleaned, dried and separated fibers are pressed against a latex-coated molding plunger and pressed into a layer which is further pressed in a mold. For a limited time, the mold and/or plunger are heated, followed by separation of mold and plunger. The pressed, vulcanized and finished pot is removed. An Independent claim is included for the plant pot (7) produced. Its upper side wall (17) has predetermined thickness (20), transitioning to reduced thickness in the lower side wall and base (22). Fiber spacing (24) in the base section (25) exceeds that in the upper side wall. Preferred suitable thicknesses are detailed.
