The bone screw further includes a holding element (4, 6) with a first section (41, 61) for connection to the thread section (2) and with a rod-like second section (43, 63) which in the inserted state of the holding element (4, 6) protrudes beyond the second end of the thread section (2). A stop is provided for limiting the distance of insertion of the holding element (4, 6) in the thread section (2). The holding element (4, 6) comprises an element (44, 64) at its free end for engagement with a screw-in tool.
