A travel clip is provided for use with a surgical staple cartridge. The travelclip includesa cover having first and second side edges which varying in distance from acenterline of thecover and a longitudinally extending rib projecting perpendicularly along thecenterline of thecover. The first and second side edges include areas of maximum distance fromthe centerline ofthe cover and areas of minimum distance from the centerline of the cover. Thespace betweenadjacent areas of maximum distance from the centerline of the cover providecutouts or openingsfor viewing, inspection and verification of structure retained within thesurgical staple cartridge.
