The flexible supporting membrane 8 is for positioning and supporting knees and lower legs of a patient being lifted by a mobile standing and raising aid 1. The membrane 8 is made from a stretchable material formed into a sheet. The membrane 8 has a vertically extending central section 19 separating two knee-receiving sections 20, 21. The central section 19 is stiffer than the knee-receiving sections 20, 21. The membrane 8 may have lateral supports 22, 23 to attach to a leg support frame 7, each support 22, 23 having a stopper 24, 25 to prevent the membrane 8 from sliding down the leg frame 7. The relative stiffness of the central section 19 may be due to a higher thickness. The membrane 8 may be a component in a leg frame 7 or a mobile patient standing and raising aid 1. Also disclosed is a leg strap 9.
