The invention relates to detection and/or treatment of a subset of prostate cancer patients who may benefit from taxane treatment. The method comprises testing whether an androgen receptor (AR) splice variant is present in a test sample obtained from the patient, wherein the androgen receptor variant can be ARv5,6,7 or ARv7, or a combination thereof.Linvention concerne la détection et/ou le traitement dun sous-ensemble de patients atteints du cancer de la prostate qui pourraient bénéficier dun traitement par taxane.
