PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions having a retinal ganglion cell death inhibiting activities, and to provide applications of the composition as a retinal ganglion cell death inhibitor or a glaucomatous preventive agent.SOLUTION: By administering pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) or a salt of PQQ orally, the retinal ganglion cell death by optic nerve disorder is suppressed. As the above salt of PQQ, it is not particularly limited as long as it is a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, and alkali metal salt, such as sodium salt and potassium salt, alkaline earth metal salt, such as magnesium salt and calcium salt, organic amine salt, such as ammonium salt, a triethanolamine salt, and a trimethyl amine salt, basic amino acid salt, such as lysine salt and arginine salt, as well as the like can be included.SELECTED DRAWING: NoneCOPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT【課題】網膜神経節細胞死抑制活性を有する組成物、及びその組成物の網膜神経節細胞死抑制剤や緑内障の予防剤としての用途を提供すること。【解決手段】ピロロキノリンキノン（ＰＱＱ）又はＰＱＱの塩を経口投与することにより、視神経障害による網膜神経節細胞死を抑制する。上記ＰＱＱの塩としては、医薬的に許容される塩であれば特に限定されず、ナトリウム塩、カリウム塩等のアルカリ金属塩、マグネシウム塩、カルシウム塩等のアルカリ土類金属塩、アンモニウム塩、トリエタノールアミン塩、トリメチルアミン塩等の有機アミン塩、リジン塩、アルギニン塩等の塩基性アミノ酸塩などを挙げることができる。【選択図】なし
