PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intramedullary nail whose proximal end part can be stably installed on the outer face of the long bone in the case of obliquely inserting the intramedullary nail from the outer face of the long bone into a medullary cavity and whose insertion part can be easily and surely inserted into the medullary cavity in a stipulated attitude.
SOLUTION: The intramedullary nail 10 comprises the proximal end part 11 arranged on the outer face side of the long bone and the insertion part 12 extended from the proximal end part 11 and inserted into the medullary cavity of the long bone and is for internally fixing the long bone. In the intramedullary nail, the proximal end part 11 is provided with a cylindrical back surface 11c formed along an axis 11x, a front surface 11b having a shape flattened more than the back surface 11c, and a fixing hole 11a passing through the front and back.
