The present disclosure relates, according to some embodiments to a system for redistributing weight away from a subjects foot or a method for facilitating ambulation of a subject, the system comprising: a platform (106 306 606 706)at least one vertical support (108, 308, 608, 708) fixed to the platform (106 306 606 706) and extending upwardly from the platform andat least one cuff (110,310 510 610 710) (a) configured to surround and releasably grip at least a portion of the subjects leg other than the foot and (b) mounted to the at least one vertical support (108, 308, 608, 708) at a vertical position along the at least one vertical support sufficient to suspend the subjects foot in a non-weight-bearing position above the platform (106 306 606 706) during ambulation,wherein the platform (106 306 606 706), the at least one vertical support (108, 308, 608, 708), and the at least one cuff (110,310 510 610 710) together are configured to bear at least the subjects full weight andwherein the at least one vertical support (108, 308, 608, 708) extends distal to the subjects foot.
