PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing 5-hydroxy-1-methylhydantoin.SOLUTION: The conventional method for producing 5-hydroxy-l-methylhydantoin is a method for reacting an alkyl glyoxylate with N-methyl urea, resultantly the reaction mixture includes both of 1-methyl and 3-methyl compounds and needs complicated treatment for separating them, and exhibits a troublesome problem of decreasing in its yield or the like. The new method according to this invention is a method for hydrolysis of 1-methylhydantoin bromide and can be simply carried out. Since only the 1-methyl compound is produced, the production process becomes simple and the yield also increases with high usability.COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT【課題】5-ヒドロキシ-1-メチルヒダントインの新規な製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】従来の5-ヒドロキシ-1-メチルヒダントインの製造方法は、グリオキシル酸アルキルエステルとN-メチル尿素を反応させる方法であり、1-メチル体と3-メチル体の両方が生成するため、その分離のための煩雑な処理が必要であり、収率の低下等の問題もあった。本発明の5-ヒドロキシ-1-メチルヒダントインの新規な製造方法は、簡単に行える1-メチルヒダントインの臭素化物を加水分解する方法であり、1-メチル体のみ生成するため、製造工程が簡素化でき収率が高いという利点を有するため、有用性が高いものである。【選択図】なし
