A method of treating a vertebra is disclosed that includes accessing an interior of a vertebra and introducing a sufficient amount of artificial biocompatible material, which does not set to a hardened condition in storage, into the vertebra with sufficient force to move the vertebra apart. The method is minimally invasive in that only a single channel is formed into the body.
