Drive mechanism (100) may include an incremental status stem (650) having a stem interconnect (652), wherein the stem (650) resides within the drive housing (630) and the piston (610), and wherein the stem (650) has an interconnect which engages one or more contacts on the piston (610) to provide incremental feedback. A drug delivery pump (10) with integrated status indication includes a housing (12) and an assembly platform (20), upon which an activation mechanism (14), an insertion mechanism (200), a fluid pathway connection (300), a power and control system (400), and the drive mechanism (100) having a drug container (50) may be mounted.
