The present invention discloses new flavagline derivatives (I) and the use of these compounds as neuroprotective and/or cardioprotective and/or antitumoral agents. In particular, the present invention discloses the use of these flavagline derivatives to prevent or limit the neurotoxicity of an antineoplastic agent. The use of these new compounds to prevent or treat a neurodegenerative disease of the nervous system, in particular Parkinsons disease, is also disclosed.
