PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double bearing fishing reel having a guard member with an operation member in which erroneous operation of a cast control mechanism is prevented to make foreign matter hard to invade inside without impairing the holding property.SOLUTION: A double bearing fishing reel 1 concerning the present invention includes a spool 5a provided between side plates of a reel body and with a fishing line wound therearound, a handle 9a for rotatably operating the spool, a drag mechanism 20 rotatably provided on a shaft of the handle, and an adjusting member 43 coming into abutment with the end of a handle side of a spool shaft 5 and formed in a cap shape for regulating a pressing force. The double bearing fishing reel has a cast control mechanism 40 for imparting a braking force to a rotation of the spool by a rotation of the cap-shaped adjusting member 43.
