PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for saving power by suppressing transmission of unnecessary signals in a medical image transmission system where medical equipment and a display device transmit/receive signals via radio.SOLUTION: In a medical image transmission system for transmitting medical images obtained by medical equipment to a display device, a video input selection part 26 detects an output state of the signal received by a radio input/output part 21 to the display device. A central operation processing unit 25 sets a first transmission mode for radio-transmitting prescribed information about medical images with respect to communication between radio input/output parts 21 and 34 when the video input selection part 26 detects that the signal received by the radio input/output part 21 is being outputted to a monitor 2. When it is detected that the signal received by the radio input/output part 21 is not outputted to the monitor 2, a second transmission mode smaller in a quantity of information than the first transmission mode is set with respect to the communication between the radio input/output parts 21 and 34.
