The device includes a processor configured to access data representing a measure of at least one respiratory parameter derived from a breathing signal of a non-invasive sensor. The processor is also configured to control an evaluation of a severity change indicator based on detecting a change in the measure of the at least one respiratory parameter from a plurality of treatment sessions. The severity change indicator represents information about a change in severity of a respiratory insufficiency condition of the patient. The processor is further configured to activate a warning based on the severity change indicator.
