In the genome of tumor cells, the ADAM8 gene is associated with the overexpression of the gene product as compared to normal cells of the same tissue type, and contributes to tumorigenesis. Accordingly, the antibody targeting the ADAM8 protein encoded by the amplified gene is useful for the diagnosis and/or treatment (including prevention) of certain cancers. The antibody is a monoclonal antibody, and includes the non-human complementarity determining region (CDR) or the human framework region.【課題】ヒトを含む哺乳動物における腫瘍細胞成長及び増殖の診断及び治療に関する方法と組成物の提供。【解決手段】ＡＤＡＭ８ポリペプチドへ結合する単離された抗体であって、腫瘍細胞のゲノムにおいてＡＤＡＭ８遺伝子が同型組織の正常細胞と比較して遺伝子産物の過剰発現に関連し、腫瘍形成に貢献していることから、増幅遺伝子によってコードされているＡＤＡＭ８タンパク質を標的とする前記抗体は、ある種の癌の診断及び／又は治療（予防を含む）にとって有用である。前記抗体はモノクローナル抗体であり、非ヒト相補性決定領域（ＣＤＲ）又はヒトフレームワーク領域を含む抗体。【選択図】なし
