The invention relates to a collagen product for medical or cosmetic applications such as curative and haemostatic dressings, implantable separation barriers, sheets and membranes for guided tissue and bone regeneration, solid or injectable carriers of pharmacologically or cosmetically active substances or cosmetic products and face masks. This collagen product contains polymers of the group of glycosaminoglycans bonded to the collagen substance at least in part by chemical bonds conveyed by polyvalent metal cations. The chemical bonds are conveyed by coordinately bonded metal compounds of the group of transition metals, mainly Cr, Zr, Al, Fe, Mn or Ti, and/or by the polyvalent cations of alkaline earth metals, mainly Ca, Mg, Zn, Ba or Sr. In addition, the invention relates to the method for the manufacture of the abovementioned collagen product and to the use thereof.
