The invention relates to a manual applicator capable of dispensing accurate doses of agricultural chemical. In one embodiment a cylindrical measuring chamber has an inlet in its upper regions and an outlet in its lower regions, when the chamber is in its orientation for use. First and second valve closure members (29 and 31) for the outlet and inlet respectively are mounted on a common actuating rod (28), axially displaceable within the chamber whereby, when the first closure member (29) is engaged with the outlet the second closure member (31) is displaced from the inlet and the chamber charges and when the second closure member (31) closes the inlet the first closure member (29) is displaced from the outlet and the chamber discharges.
