Methods and materials useful for applying moxifloxacin to the ear are described. The methods involve delivering a composition that contains at least one viscogenic agent and moxifloxacin or a salt thereof to the epidermal surface of the tympanic membrane via the ear canal. The composition is delivered to the tympanic membrane in a flowable form and, after delivery to the tympanic membrane, becomes sufficiently viscous such that the moxifloxacin is localized against the tympanic membrane. Such compositions can be used to prophylactically and/or therapeutically treat middle and inner ear conditions, including otitis media.L'invention porte sur des procédés et des matériaux utiles pour l'application de moxifloxacine dans l'oreille. Les procédés mettent en jeu l'administration d'une composition qui contient au moins un agent viscogène et de la moxifloxacine ou un sel de celle-ci, à la surface épidermique de la membrane du tympan par l'intermédiaire du méat acoustique externe. La composition est administrée à la membrane du tympan sous une forme apte à s'écouler et, après l'administration à la membrane du tympan, devient suffisamment visqueuse, de telle sorte que la moxifloxacine est localisée contre la membrane du tympan.
