Use of an isolated resinoid extract of Myoporum crassifoliumor a fraction of resinoid extract of Myoporum crassifolium, comprising as main compound of (-)-epi-alpha -bisabolol, less than 1% of (-)-alpha -bisabolol, and substantially free of the presence of foul smelling degradation products, preferably resulting from e.g. the thermolysis of wood and oxidative degradation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, for preparing a cosmetic or a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention and treatment of skin disorders related to the skin inflammation, is claimed. Use of an isolated resinoid extract of Myoporum crassifoliumor a fraction of resinoid extract of Myoporum crassifolium, comprising as main compound of (-)-epi-alpha -bisabolol, less than 1% of (-)-alpha -bisabolol, substantially free of the presence of foul smelling degradation products, preferably resulting from the thermolysis of wood, oxidative degradation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, or thermal degradation of sesquiterpene substances, such as mesityl oxide, 1-acetyl-4-methyl-3-cyclohexene and 4-methylacetophenone, for preparing a cosmetic or a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention and treatment of skin disorders related to the skin inflammation, is claimed.
