The present disclosure consists of therapeutically-active compositions thatcombine strontium with at least one additional molecules that increase theoveralltherapeutic potency of the combination beyond the potency of any of theseparateconstituents. Specifically, the combinations described herein perform twoimportantfunctions； (1) they increase the ability of topically-applied strontium toinhibit bothacute sensory irritation (e.g., pruritus and pain), redness, swelling andinflammation(collectively defined for purposes of this description, "irritation") and thechronicirritation that is characteristic of and contributes to the development andmaintenanceof painful or pruritic neuropathic conditions； and (2) they decrease thestrontiumactivated pathways that are known to enhance the development and maintenanceofpain, pruritis and neuropathic conditions.
