In the present invention, a particle is obtained by a manufacturing method comprising a first step of dissolving a capsaicinoid and/or an extract extracted from a fruit of the genus Capsicum that contains a capsaicinoid in a hydrophobic polymerizable vinyl monomer in the absence of a solvent to prepare a hydrophobic solution, dispersing the hydrophobic solution in water, and radical polymerizing the polymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of an oil-soluble polymerization initiator to generate a polymer. The particle has a phase-separated structure formed by a matrix that comprises the polymer, and a domain that is separated from the matrix and that comprises the capsaicinoid and/or the extract.
