The invention relates to an edible cocoa product which has a dimensionally stable chocolate mass that is homogeneous in type, consistency, and taste, in which fragments of buckwheat grains are contained. The invention is characterized by the fact that the fragments have a fragment size which is at most half a buckwheat grain and at least 50 μm, that the fragments of the buckwheat grains are obtained in the course of a pretreatment influencing the consistency of the buckwheat grains, in which the buckwheat grains are subjected to at least one roasting using edible oil and subsequent fragmentation, and that the fragments of buckwheat are mixed in the solid chocolate mass in a uniformly distributed manner.
