A neck brace 10 comprises a frame 12, which includes a support section 18 for supporting a users lower jaw and a brace section 20 for bracing the support section. The brace section comprises a sternum rest 30 and a strut 12 that joins the sternum rest to the remainder of the frame, and is shaped to avoid contact with the user's clavicle region. The strut may comprise a pair of converging wire arms 28 in a V-shape, with a U-shape apex 30 which accepts a sternum pad 84 which may be a transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) unit which bridges a gap 96 between the two wires (see figure 5). The sternum pad/TENS unit may have a peripheral groove formation 92 to be accepted into the wire apex 30. The neck brace may also include electrodes 82 which are electrically connected to the TENS unit via the wire brace.
