PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water containing a metal ion that has an antimicrobial function or is essential to a human body.SOLUTION: Metal ion water is provided, which contains at least a complex anion and has an antimicrobial function and which is obtained by agitating a plastic film having a coating of a metal selected from silver, copper, and zinc, in a diluted citric acid solution as a solvent. If necessary, the metal ion water is adjusted into weak acidity by use of a pH adjustor. A packaging material having an antimicrobial function is obtained by immersing a fabric with the metal ion water, drying and cutting the fabric. A fabric or fiber product carrying copper ion water is provided, which has an insect repelling function.
