PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromechanical surgical system.SOLUTION: An electromechanical surgical system comprises: an end effector an adapter assembly 14 arranged for selectively interconnecting the end effector and a hand-held surgical instrument and a one-wire bidirectional serial communications interface extending through the end effector, the adapter assembly, and the hand-held instrument. The hand-held surgical instrument includes an instrument housing, a master circuit, a power source, a first switch, a second switch, and a processor. The processor has a wake-up pin connected to the one-wire bidirectional serial communications interface.
