The disclosed embodiments include an aquarium having a non-disruptivefiltration system.In one aspect, an apparatus includes a tank having a closed end and an openend, a lid removablypositioned over the open end, and filter housing including a sidewall that,when fixedly positionwithin the tank, encloses a first portion of the tank. Inlets in the sidewallmaintain fluidcommunication between the first portion of the tank and a second portion ofthe tank. The filterhousing includes a filter cartridge partitioning the enclosed first portioninto a first chamber from asecond chamber, a pump disposed within the second chamber, and a reservoirdisposed within thesecond chamber at a distal end of the filter housing. The reservoir isconnected to the pump acrossan elongated tube, and includes discharge lip across which pumped waterdischarges into the tank.
