The present invention relates to mechanically scanning an array of transducer elements (26) over the patients body (12) and a volume (86) to be examined, respectively. In order to maintain tight contact between the volume (86) and the transducer array (26), there is proposed a transducer array (26) which follows the contours of the patients body (12) while recording the movement of the array in the z-direction. This allows for a 3D reconstruction of the scanned image.La présente invention concerne un réseau déléments de transducteur (26) balayé mécaniquement sur le corps du patient (12) et un volume (86) à examiner respectivement. Afin de maintenir un contact serré entre le volume (86) et le réseau de transducteurs (26), il est proposé un réseau de transducteurs (26) qui suit les contours du corps du patient (12) lors de lenregistrement du mouvement du réseau dans la direction z.
