PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide better and more effective therapeutic methods which can target pathologic cells more accurately without causing substantial side effects and attendant damages to healthy tissues, and can treat disorders by non-invasive or minimum invasive techniques.SOLUTION: The invention provides methods for modifying a target structure which mediates or is associated with a biological activity comprising: applying an initiation energy from at least one source to a target structure in a subject in need of treatment. The initiation energy contacts the target structure and induces a predetermined change in the target structure in situ.
