An apparatus and a method for processing a three-dimensional ultrasound image are provided to reduce a time taken to acquire volume data by updating the volume data with sub volume data. An apparatus(200) for processing a three-dimensional ultrasound image includes a three-dimensional probe(210), a beam forming unit(220), and a signal processing unit(230). The three-dimensional probe includes a one-dimensional ultrasound transducer array or a two-dimensional ultrasound converter array which is constituted of a plurality of converting elements. An ultrasound echo signal received in the three-dimensional probe is converted into an electrical reception signal in the converter array to be transmitted to the beam forming unit. The beam forming unit delays the electrical reception signal outputted from each of the converting elements of the ultrasound converter array to create a reception connecting signal.
