The present invention relates to a method for correcting artifacts in a computed tomography (CT) image and an apparatus thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for correcting artifacts in a CT image includes: an image recovery unit which uses a first sinogram being the original sinogram obtained by an X-ray detector of a CT apparatus in order to recover a first CT image by using an image recovery algorithm; a segmentation executing unit obtaining a second CT image by executing a segmentation operation on the metal materials in the first CT image; a reverse image recovery unit using a second sinogram by using the second CT image and through a reverse image recovery algorithm; a basis image generation unit which uses the first and second sonograms to generate multiple basis images; and an artifact correction unit which generates a CT image with corrected artifacts by using the weighted summation of the basis images.
