An aquaculture system comprising:a metallic aquaculture net in the form of an open basket having an opening,thenet including side walls and a bottom, said side walls arranged to form anupperperiphery of the opening of said aquaculture net and a lower peripheryconnectedto the bottom of said aquaculture net,flotation means associated with the upper periphery of said aquaculture net,shape-stabilizing means connected to the lower periphery of said aquaculturenetsuch that the bottom of the aquaculture net is stretched and the shape of theaquaculture net is stabilized,suspension means connecting the flotation means with the shape-stabilizingmeans, whereinthe suspension means is arranged for suspending the shape-stabilizing meansfrom the flotation means such that the weight of the bottom of the aquaculturenetis at least partially transmitted to the flotation means.
