An absorbent element for the absorption of body fluids in hygienic articles, comprising: - a first layer of sheet material (10) having a set of concave formations (16) with respective opening parts; - masses (18) of expandable superabsorbent material as a result of the absorption of body fluid, masses that are arranged in said concave formations (16); and - a second layer of sheet material (12), applied on said first layer of sheet material (10) covering the opening parts of said concave formations (16); and wherein: - at least one of said first and second layers of sheet material (10, 12) is permeable to body fluids to allow the body fluids themselves to penetrate said concave formations (16) and be absorbed by said masses of superabsorbent material (18) that expand in said concave formations (16); - said second layer of sheet material (12) is elastic in an area corresponding to the opening parts of said concave formations (16), whereby said second layer of sheet material (12) can be deformed in an opposite direction with respect to the opening portions of said concave formations (16), thus allowing additional expansion of said masses of superabsorbent material (18) beyond said concave formations (16), and - said first (10) and second layers (12) of sheet material have two side bands (10a, 12a) and two head bands (10b, 12b) and are connected to each other by means of two side strips (14a) and two header strips (14b) that connect between yes said first (10) and second (12) layers in areas corresponding to said side bands (10a, 12a) and said header bands (10b, 12b), respectively, and by means of adhesive formations (14c, 20a) that are extend in the area in which they are located s said concave formations (16); leaving said adhesive formations (14c, 20a) at least partially free of the opening portions of said concave formations (16), characterized in that said adhesive formations (14c, 20a) include both stable adhesive formations (14c) that leave the opening parts of
