PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dwarfing chestnuts and renewing branches to produce large and high-quality chestnuts by planting a plant in organic soil, making a trunk of the plant sufficiently absorb solar light and nutrient moisture of the organic soil to grow a plurality of branches, forming a knot in the root of each branch while vigorously growing the trunk, and obtaining vegetative branches and maternal branches from all the knots.SOLUTION: High-quality and large chestnuts are produced by: cutting back vegetative branches 3 leaving two branches from the proximal side while growing vegetative branches 3 in the plant 1 growing knots 7 at proximal ends of all the branches growing vigorous bearing maternal branches 4 and vegetative branches 3 and nourishing cones.COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT【課題】有機質土壌に苗木を植付し、前記苗木の主幹に太陽光と有機質土壌の土壌養水分を十分に吸収させて複数本の枝を生長させ、主幹を勢よく生長させながら夫々の枝の根本にコブを形成してすべてのコブから発育枝や結果母枝を得て大果で高品質の栗を発生させる栗の矮化と側枝更新化方法を提供する。【解決手段】苗木1に発育枝3を生長させながら、発育枝3を基部側から2枝を残して切り返し、すべての枝の基端にコブ7を発生させ、勢のある結果母枝4や発育枝3を発生させて毬果を養毬させて高品質で大果の栗を生産する。【選択図】 図6
