An improved multifocal design for an ocularimplant is provided. This ocular implant includes anintraocular lens (IOL) and a number of haptics. The IOLpasses optical energy. A microstructure within the IOLplaces the IOL under tension. The microstructure is operableto be broken in a controlled manner to release tensionin the IOL and reshape the IOL. This may be done atany time post operatively and in conjunction with wave-frontaberrometry to provide improved results. The hapticsmechanically couple to the IOL in order to positionand secure the IOL within the eye.
