PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backing prevention device for a wheelchair, which can prevent the wheelchair from suddenly backing on an uphill when it moves forward during or immediately after stopping in the middle of moving forward on the uphill.SOLUTION: The backing prevention device includes a hub member and a stopping member. The hub member has: a hub body a mandrel provided to be rotatably and detachably penetrated to the hub body a ratchet gear ring in which an attaching screw to be screwed with the inner circumferential surface of the hub body is formed on the outer circumferential surface and a ratchet pawl is formed in the inner circumferential surface and a stopping gear ring in which stopping gear to be mated with the ratchet is formed, a restricting ring section coaxially extending from the stopping ratchets is formed, and recesses are axially formed on the outer circumferential surface of the restricting ring section and which is fixed and inserted so that the mandrel can rotate.
