PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial agent for a resin, which exhibits excellent antimicrobial activity to a thermoplastic resin by addition of a small amount, while maintaining mechanical strength of a molded article, and which can maintain its effect.SOLUTION: The antimicrobial agent for a resin comprises a quaternary ammonium salt with a counterion, which is a super strong acid, and a block polymer having a structure where a polyolefin block and a hydrophilic polymer block, having a volume resistivity value of 1×10to 1×10&OHgr； cm, are bonded via at least one bond selected from the group consisting of an ester bond, an amide bond, an ether bond, an imide bond, and a urethane bond.【課題】 熱可塑性樹脂に対して、少量の添加で、成形品の機械的強度を維持しつつ優れた抗菌性を発揮し、その効果を持続できる樹脂用抗菌剤を提供する。【解決手段】 対イオンが超強酸である第４級アンモニウム塩、並びにポリオレフィンのブロックと体積固有抵抗値が１×１０5～１×１０11Ω・ｃｍの親水性ポリマーのブロックとが、エステル結合、アミド結合、エーテル結合、イミド結合およびウレタン結合からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも１種の結合を介して結合した構造を有するブロックポリマーを含有してなる樹脂用抗菌剤。【選択図】なし
