A retention means (10a) opposes the axial outlet (4) of the spherical head (2) from the articular cavity (1c) of the articular insert (1). For example, the retention means is an undercut section (10a) of the articular insert (1). The spherical head (2) is mounted at the factory in the articular insert (1), temporarily heating the joint insert (1), and carrying out the sterilization after assembly.
