An articulating bed incorporates an articulation system (12) which employs an actuator (44) pivotally attached at a first end to a midpoint of a head end rail (36a) of a frame. The actuator has a range of motion from a retracted position to an extended position. A roller assembly (50) is pivotally attached to a central lateral rail in the frame and has a spacer bar (54). A second end of the actuator is pivotally attached to a midpoint of the spacer bar. The roller assembly further has rollers (56a, 56b) engaging a lower surface of an upper body support section (14). The upper body support section is substantially horizontal with the actuator in said retracted position and urged by the rollers for angular rotation about an axis through the range of motion for the actuator to a raised position in the extended position.La présente invention concerne un lit articulé intégrant un système darticulation (12) utilisant un actionneur (44) dont la première extrémité est fixée pivotante au centre dun rail (36a) situé du côté de lextrémité correspondant à la tête dun cadre de lit. Lactionneur peut passer dune position repliée à une position déployée avec tout un éventail de positions intermédiaires. Un ensemble cylindre (50) est fixé pivotant sur un rail latéral central du cadre et comporte une barre despacement (54). Une seconde extrémité de lactionneur est fixée pivotante au centre de la barre despacement. Lensemble cylindre comporte, en outre, des cylindres (56a, 56b) en contact avec la surface inférieure dune partie supportant le haut du corps (14). La partie supportant le haut du corps est essentiellement horizontale lorsque lactionneur est en position repliée tandis que, sous laction des cylindres entraînant la rotation angulaire autour dun axe de lactionneur avec passage par tout léventail des positions intermédiaires de ce dernier, elle peut passer en position relevée lorsque lactionneur est en position déployée.
