In accordance with the present invention, compounds that inhibit theexpression of VEGF post-transcriptionally have been identified, and methodsfor their use provided. In one aspect of the invention, compounds useful inthe inhibition of VEGF production, in the inhibition of angiogenesis, and/orin the treatment of cancer, diabetic retinopathy or exudative maculardegeneration are provided. In another aspect of the invention, methods areprovided for the inhibition of VEGF production, the inhibition ofangiogenesis, and/or the treatment of cancer, diabetic retinopathy orexudative macular degeneration using the compounds of the invention.
