PURPOSE: A staining method, a method for manufacturing blue pigment, and a kit for the same are provided to enable quick staining and to quickly obtain the blue pigment. CONSTITUTION: A method for staining a material containing amine, amino acid, or peptide comprises a step of contacting genipin with the material under an alkaline condition at pH 7.1-14. A reducing agent is selected among cysteine, a cysteine derivative, ethanol amine thioglycolate, thioglycolic acid, a thioglycolic acid derivative, sodium sulfide, sulfide alkali salt, sodium hydrogen sulfite, or sulfite alkali salt. The concentration of the reducing agent is 0.1-5 wt/volume%. The reducing agent is alkali electrolyzed water. A method for manufacturing blue pigment comprises a step of contacting genipin with one or more selected from amine, amino acids, and peptide in the reducing agent under an alkali condition at pH 7.1-14.
