PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent having no or a slight tendency of discoloration over time, excellent in sustained releasing tendency of a silver component and suitably blended in resin molding products, coating products and the like.SOLUTION: The antibacterial agent includes water-nonswelling mica particles carrying a silver benzotriazole compound represented by general formula (1) as an antibacterial component. The antibacterial agent can be produced by preparing an aqueous slurry containing the water-nonswelling mica particles and a water-soluble silver compound, and adding a benzotriazole compound to precipitate the silver benzotriazole compound represented by general formula (1).
