A device (1) for use in a process of applying a bandage around a limb comprises a ring (4) which is adapted to surround the limb (2, 3) a guide (5) for guiding the ring (4), wherein the ring (4) is movably connected to the guide (5) a rotatable support for supporting a bandage roll (10), which support is located in the ring (4) a motor for driving the support a drive circuit (40) for driving the motor an interface (50, 51) for receiving input information representing a desired tension of the bandage during a bandage applying process and a controller (41) for controlling operation of the motor during a bandage applying process through the drive circuit (40) by setting an output torque of the motor.
