PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Z alignment apparatus capable of promptly performing Z-direction rough alignment, and to provide ophthalmic equipment.SOLUTION: The Z alignment apparatus includes: an eye examination part capable of moving back and forth and up and down with respect to an eye to be examined and examining or measuring the eye to be examined and an illumination light source provided in the eye examination part and lighting up an anterior eye part of the eye to be examined. The Z alignment apparatus further includes: an imaging apparatus which is provided in the eye examination part and images the anterior eye part and a luminance detection means acquiring luminance of an illumination light source image included in an anterior eye part image captured by the imaging apparatus, and the alignment apparatus performs Z-direction rough alignment based upon the luminance detected by the luminance detection means.
