Compositions for bath aids and other hard surfaces having silver-based antimicrobial efficacy are disclosed. A variety of hard surfaces are suitable for use of the invention. Methods for reducing or eliminating bacterial growth using a silver-based antimicrobial additives in a hard surface are also disclosed. Preferably, the silver-based antimicrobial additive according to the invention may be formed into any desired shape for its desired uses.
